To type directly with the computer keyboard:

• To add a diacritical mark, type an apostrophe: t', j' (or c), H' (or x), d', s', S', T', G', k' (or g)
• Type â or aa for ā
• Type - for the hamza, and y--, v--, a--, h-- to place a hamza above the corresponding letter
• Type / for the Zero-width non-joiner (nim-fāsele): used to prevent the ligature between two letters, particularly for plurals and verbs
  example: type ktab for کتاب (ketāb: book) and ktab/ha for کتاب‌ها (ketāb-hā: books)
