Click on the virāma, called pulli in Tamil (diacritic in the center) to delete the inherent vowel a.
How to use
To type directly with the computer keyboard:
- Use the capital to type the letters subscribed with a dot below: T, N, L, S
- Type G (or ng) for ṅ & J for ñ
- Type z or ç or sh for ś
- Type l=, r=, n= for ḻ, ṟ, ṉ
- Type aa, ii, uu, ee, oo (or A, I, U, E, O) for the long vowels ā, ī, ū, ē, ō
- Type auu for ௗ
- Type K for ஃ (āytam, visarga)
- Type M for ஂ (anusvara)
- Type OM for ௐ
- Type / or | for । (danda) and twice for a double danda
