How to use
To type directly with the computer keyboard:
- Type + for the phat-hsint (virāma) ္ (to combine two consonants): this is a control character; it does not appear directly in the text
- Type x for the asat ် (especially after a vowel)
- Use uppercase for letters transcribed with a dot: T, Th, D, Dh, N
- Type G (majuscule) or ng pour င
- Type J (majuscule) or ñ for ဉ and JJ or Ñ for ည
- Type - after a consonant to add the ha-hto mark (for aspirated consonants) ှ
- Type = after a consonant or diacritic (y, r, w, h) to toggle its form.
- Type aa, ii, uu (or î, û) for the long vowels ā, ī, ū
- Type a to remove the asat ်; type aa for the vowel diacritic ာ, or aa= for the variant ါ. Type A or â for the independent vowel ဠ (glottal stop used as a consonant).
- Type M for the thethe-tin (anusvara) ံ
- Type H for the wut-sa-pauk (visarga) း
- Type _ for the aukmyit (dot below) ့
- Type / or | for the pote (danda) ၊ and twice for the pote-ma (double danda)

Transcription & phonetics
- The consonants with h are not aspirate (h is necessary to type with the computer keyboard)
- j is pronounced /z/
- c is pronounced /s/ (voiceless)
- s is pronounced /θ/ like thing
