To type directly with the computer keyboard:

• Type an apostrophe to add an accent mark; example: : a' for ά
• Type ï and ü (or several apostrophs: i'' and u'') for ϊ and ϋ
• Type j (or è) for η
• Type u (or y) for υ
• Type w (or ô) for ω
• Type a space key (or a punctuation mark) with a word ending with -s to change: σ > ς
• Type the question mark ? to obtain the Greek question mark (erotimatiko) ;
• Type the semicolon ; to obtain the upper dot (ano teleia) · (used as a semicolon in Greek)

The Cyrillic alphabet can also be used.

The letters η ι υ are pronounced /i/ in Modern Greek.
